Privacy policy

Tuckin writes a new bedtime story for your child every night and emails it to you by 7pm. To do that, we need a little information about you and your child. This policy explains what we collect, why we collect it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. We keep it short and plain because you should be able to understand exactly what happens to your family’s data.

What we collect and why

We only collect what we need to run the service:

• Your email address. This is how we deliver stories, send receipts, and reach you about your account. You are the parent or guardian, and the account belongs to you.
• Your child’s first name. We use it to make your child the hero of each story. We never ask for a surname.
• Your child’s age. This helps us match the reading level, length, and themes to your child.
• Your child’s interests and a story theme. Dinosaurs, space, pirate ships, kindness, bravery, whatever you tell us. We use these to shape each night’s story.
• Basic account and billing records. Your subscription status and payment history. Card numbers are handled by Stripe; we never see or store them.

Each story we generate is delivered to your email inbox, where you can re-read it together anytime.

How stories are generated

To write each story, we send your child’s first name, age, interests, and theme to Anthropic, the company behind the Claude AI models. Anthropic uses that information only to generate the story we ask for, and we instruct that this data not be retained or used to train their models where that option is available to us. The finished story comes back to us, and we email it to you.

Who we share information with

We do not sell your data. We share it only with the service providers we rely on to run Tuckin, and only so they can do their job for us. These are our sub-processors:

• Stripe processes payments. They receive your billing details directly and handle your card information so we never touch it.
• Resenddelivers our emails, including each night’s story. They receive your email address and the story content.
• Anthropic generates the stories from the child details described above.
• Vercel hosts our application and stores our data on our behalf.

What we do not do

• We do not sell or rent your personal information to anyone.
• We do not run ads or work with ad networks.
• We do not use third-party tracking, analytics pixels, or cross-site trackers.
• We do not create profiles of your child for marketing.

How long we keep your data

We keep your account information and your child’s details for as long as your subscription is active, plus a short period afterward so you can come back without starting over. If you ask us to delete your data, we remove it from our systems, except for the limited records we are required to keep for tax, accounting, or legal reasons. The stories themselves are delivered to your email inbox, which is yours to keep.

How we protect your data

We use encryption in transit, access controls, and reputable providers to keep your information safe. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to limit what we collect and who can reach it. If we ever have a breach that affects you, we will tell you.

Your rights and how to use them

You can ask us at any time to:

• Access the information we hold about you and your child.
• Correct anything that is wrong or out of date.
• Delete your data and close your account.
• Export a copy of your data in a portable format.

Email support@tuckin.coand we will take care of it. We may need to confirm your identity first so we are not handing your family’s data to the wrong person.

California residents (CCPA)

If you live in California, you have the right to know what personal information we collect and why, the right to request that we delete it, and the right to opt out of the sale of your personal information. We do not sell personal information, so there is nothing to opt out of, but the right stands. We will not discriminate against you for using any of these rights. To make a request, email support@tuckin.co.

Visitors outside the US (GDPR and UK GDPR)

Tuckin is a US service, but if you are in the EU or UK, you have rights over your personal data too. Our lawful basis for processing is the contract we have with you (to provide the subscription you signed up for) and your consent for the child details you choose to share. You can ask to access, correct, delete, or export your data, or object to certain processing. Contact us at support@tuckin.co and we will respond.

Children

Tuckin is bought and managed by parents, not children. Because this is a product for kids, we handle children’s data with extra care. Please read our children’s privacy notice for the details.

We use only essential cookies. You can read exactly which ones and what they do in our cookie policy.

Changes to this policy

If we change how we handle your data, we will update this page and change the date at the top. If the change is significant, we will email you.
